The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee (RNLM) is a police organisation with military status. It is a flexible organisation which can be deployed anywhere in the world. The RNLM has a wide variety of tasks both at home and abroad, contributing to the security of the State. It has five districts, Schiphol being the largest in terms of personnel, and a National Centre for Training and Expertise.
The Royal Netherlands Marechaussee Schiphol District is responsible for security at Schiphol Airport. It carries out policing and investigative tasks and is responsible for border control and civil aviation security. At Schiphol, the RNLM employs more than 1,700 personnel who work every day to carry out these tasks.
Together with all our partners at the airport, we strive towards one important goal: providing a safe and pleasant environment for everyone in and around Schiphol Airport. We each have our own task in ensuring security in the broadest sense of the word.
Pieter Simpelaar is the Deputy District Commander of the Schiphol District, and as such is responsible for day-to-day operations, innovation and cooperation.
He has a degree in Public Administration and has completed the Strategic Leadership studies at the Police Academy. He focuses strongly on improvement and organisational development and considers people to be the decisive factor in an organisation.
